I love taking photos of new people.

Getting to know them through the lens...
oh but when I know someone like I know these two...
its fun to capture those expressions that I know are SO them. (as only a mama can)

Tonight I decided to be intentional about taking my two out and make art togethor.
It was really sweet, and Im so glad that although I longed for the one of the two of them
faces clean, and smiling. The one you give to grandmas in wallet size.
The one that most of my clients dream of too..

I got these, and I love them more than of all that standard stuff.

I got them... who they really are.

Wild, spunky, freckled, shaggy haired, happy, children.

A week ago this family welcomed boy #2 to the mix.
This is a sweet family who Nick and I have been privileged to know.
This was a winner of the Elijah drawing a few months ago.
I was really honored to take these images, images of them doing life, puzzles, books, music, taking a little walk.
They do a really pretty family life, let me tell you.
And the newest addition, well oh my is he ever a charmer.

I want to introduce you to Scott + Lara.
Scott is a friend who was hungry for God and a family.
He surrendered that all to the Lord.
In walked Lara.
Man the Lord is good like that.
Not only has he found a beautiful, lovely woman who is passionate about Jesus.
But he got Kingston, this 3 year old sweetheart, who in the matter of an hour stole my heart too.

Today they wanted Christmas pictures.
So we started with that..
But Scott wanted something more.
A lot more.

It was beyond a privilege to capture this.

To be here.

To do this "job" while witnessing, the Lords goodness.

You couldn't help but cry, standing by.

Nick and I were honored to be there.

Congrats Scott + Lara + Kingston.

This shoot today was a treat.
Kids that were just full of joy.
Seriously not one second of whinning.
Just giggles, and full blown glee.
It made my job so fun.
I have no doubt that its because these two parents pour so much love into each of them.
I could just see it.

Well and the setting, well it was pretty much as dreamy as it gets.
The light was literally bouncing off the leaves of this vineyard.

Photographing families
Totally fills me, and shows me how awesome our heavenly father is.
And look how much we love our children... I can only imagine his love for us.
This is a good good job to have.

I hope your starting off this holiday season, with simple sweet moments.

Some people will say I overshoot sessions.
Or as this dear friend said. Man you fire a lot of frames.
Its moments like this... it pays off..... in abundance.

staying warm and sweet

This family headed out with me on a cold morning to capture some family images.
We brought some ~~treats~~ bribes to keep the hubby and kids interested.

The thing I noticed most was how much both Mr + Mrs really lit up around each other.
Love how during the chaos of raising kids, doing life, they still made each other laugh a lot.

oh and then while these two weren't totally cuddled up...
we snuck some of all of them.... gorgeous kids. Seriously Gorgeous.

oh wait, and how did they stay warm your wondering....
well there was some of this... too...

and thats the Z family for you.

This shoot was a dear one.
One of a very very good friend of mine.
She herself is an amazingly gifted photographer.
One who loves road trips, and books, and exploring and being a family.

Lucky to have met them back at the church Nick and I attended when we first married and to get to know them.

Susan is on that list... you girls know what I mean, the list of women in your life, whose mom wisdom you trust, whose spritutal wisdom you trust, who tell you drama free, truth, who don't mince words or flatter you, they love you with truth. Straight truth. Im lucky to know her.. and lucky to go spend a day with her family.. where my 4 year old may have asked her teenager out on a polly pocket sort of date.... sorry C man.... its hard being loved. So very hard.

And the P's here.. love you all.... thank you for all the ways you love our family.

First up.. of course is Susan. Shes stunning. Inside and out.

we spent a little daytrip in the sweet town of Julian.... apple country if you will, which of course means pie... really really good pie.

then it was off to combine her and her hubbys 3 loves... their boys + books + pretty outdoor spaces

first up.. the boys + each of their favorite reads.

a good good day.. even if we drove in circles a wee bit.

Her life is blessed with some sweet little men (and a big one too) who all cherish her beyond measure.

She radiates motherhood.

Totally giggled over hearing there story of Dan inviting Cierra to a party that didn't exist....
He invited her, then threw the party togethor right after he met her...

We have a dear family staying with us that is here to adopt a sweet baby boy.
One with eyes the size of Alaska, big beautiful eyes, a little boy named Elijah.

He has down syndrome, and has had a hard first month of his little life. Medically.

Meanwhile the Lord has orchestrated a beautiful symphony, and he cordinates the perfect family to love Elijah, to call him theirs. And so across this great big country on about 24 hours notice, this family boarded a plane and came and claimed him as their own.

yesterday on the eve of mothers day, I went and played with such a fun loving family, this mom was full of playful ideas to get real pictures of her family of four and I was along for the ride, lucky me.

There was love and there was lots of laughter..... so privileged to do this as a job, and get to see into the heart of so many precious families...

so for mothers day, how could I not post a huge gigantic post of all these images...

So last weekend I had the privlege to be flown to Dallas
to meet this little man and photograph him.
He was sweet.
I am smitten.
And oh what a joy it is, to see two parents so over the moon filled with love for this baby.

Really precious.

I love seeing friends enter new phases of life. And parenthood is an absolute thrill (uhmm.. ride).
This sweet mom, stood up with me at my wedding, over seven years ago as a bridesmaid.
So to be able to there with her now, was really a treat for me.

She is an amazing mom already. No doubt. And her hubby, is already nominated for some serious dad awards. He is a really kind man.

They are incredible, and have already fallen in to a sweet sweet rhythym.

after a bunch of requests we are opening 2 more days of mini sessions.

We will have Saturday the 20th in Lake Elsinore

for more of the christmas tree in the fields shoots (see attached images)

and Sunday the 21st we will have Orange County

mini sessions in the afternoon in San Juan.

Sessions are $120, they include an 8x10 and 2 5x7's along with a 20 minute session and 10-15 images online in a gallery. You are then able to order reprints.

These typically fill up quick, and I have said it once before this season but this really is, the last ones of the year for holiday card cutoff.

from Tennessee.... this famiy was a total kick. It was amazing to me, to see so many personalities in there kiddos. I loved how confident these kids were, how comfortable in their own skin, and how mature they were. And how much fun they had. Plus seriously least complaining 5 year old I have ever seen...

Having a 1 year old myself and being preggo with #2 I can't for the life of me imagine having 6 kids, but they handle it with ease .. and they love each of there kids with such an individuality... super super cool.

can I also just tell you how dang polite these boys were, ohhh if only I teach my mini man to be such a gentlemen, I will be a happy momma.

thanks guys for lettting me spend an afternoon with your kids, hope you liked the bubblegum!!

make me smile!!! This one was part of a bigger group but since Stacie said the magic words, we want something funky.. I got to play with them. There kids adored each other and there parents, which was awesome to see, and dad for sure was happy around his wife... I had a blast with them.

Connie & Sascha are a sweet couple, I photographed there wedding a while back, and engagement in fact they have some of my favorite ever engagement images. They are a fun couple, who make my job very easy. This sesssion was so great, because you get just sense how in love they are, and how excited they are to meet this baby. I can't wait to meet this baby either...

This family was such a blast, 2 toehead boys, one very much in love couple, some sprinkled doughnuts, a cool location, and them giving me the freedom to do whatever I want, thats one fabulous combination in my book.

Well I had my bundle almost 6 months ago, we went through some health battles during, but wowza was she worth it. Amazing in fact.

And here we are now.. back and adjusting to life, with napping, and throwup, and giggles, and joy... total joy.

I am shooting for those of you asking.

Once a week.

Its artists sessions only.

$1,000 includes disc and my time, about 40 images in full resolution to do with whatever you please.

Get your pictures within a week, all edited and snazzy.

And it leaves me lots of time to cuddle.

This has been going on the last couple months, and working well, so well.

I am in the middle of editing a milion photos for clients. Is this strong enough to show, I ask myself everytime. Wanting every image to be a good representation of my work.

Is the color good, is it sharp, is it... well my style.

Here is a photo I found on my harddrive...

My Granddad and I in our matching outfits, him in his work outfit, and me well.. I just loved overalls. This was taken about 10 years ago.

He is in the middle of building a home from the ground up. And of course as he always does in photos is looking at everyone else lovingly.

I love this image, I can still feel it, and still stand there... and so glad that this ordinary moment, with poor disposable film was captured.

I don't care about coloring or being washed out, I love it anyways.

Thats what photos are for right....

My granddad went home to be with the Lord back in June, Man I miss him.

Take those images around your own home... no matter what the circumstances, you will love them later!

Christmas Cards.......
Its that time, and we are in full swing here. We met about 30 amazing families this week so far and shot shot shot away.

Thanks you guys for coming out & playing.... and well letting me do what I do... I still have lots more families to meet and play with. But, its been fun getting something unique for all of you.

I am off now to go meet up with 5 more today... :)

On vacation..

So people, the office is CLOSED.
At least until October 10th.

I am going to Oahu, to rest rejuvanute, work (a tiny bit) and basically get my creative juices flowing for all the fun sessions I have coming up in Oct/Nov.

It should be great fun, and finally get some rest in this first trimester of pregnancy. Sigh.....

Sept. has been a month of weddings galore... and families too.. and I have loved every second of it.

ALSO something fun... .wannna learn how to take awesome photos of your own. Check me out on the new show scrapbook lifestyle where I will be doing segments this whole season on how to take great photos of your kids.... :) I had a blast taping them, and sharing with you guys how I do what I do... ! The new season starts the first week of Oct. so if your a scrapper or a mommy with a camera, check it out!

Connie and Sacha are totally a fun couple with a sweet spirit.
They were up for anything no questions asked and Sacha is a total riot...

We made sure we only took images from his good side... and he definetly worked it for the camera... thanks guys for hanging out, and I can't wait to shoot your wedding in Palos Verdes in Nov.. will be much fun!! :)

I have done a couple sessions now at the Happiest Place on Earth.
Perfect for families who just want them being them, and there kids in great moods.

Its fun, we play, we ride the carousel, we go to a tea party (a dizzy one!), we do whatever there family does on there trips to Disney... and ironicaly we call it WORK... hmmm...

Unfortuanetly OC traffic got us there later than what we wanted and we has about 20 minutes of daylight left, so we get creative after that.

I did one with a super awesome family a couple weeks, a family with a HUGE heart, that has an awesome testimony of God's goodness, and beyond that they are a ton of fun, we look forward to hanging out with them at there sessions. I have photographed this mini-man since before Leslie Autumn Photography was even called that, he was 2 weeks old I believe... and still the cutest guy ever.

The Emens triplets, are cutie pies, and because I know Jamee is a blog stalker around here, I thought we would put some images from the birthday bash today...cause we know she loves her babies something fierce.

The event I covered today was adorable, a 1 year old luauu, with a cupcake station, a craft/make your own visor station, great food, and lots of people who love those triplets. Plus awesome invites from www.cakeparties.com (super cute and unique, check them out!). So here is a sneak peek at some images I can't believe how much they have grown. We will see you guys for a portrait session in a couple weeks.. :)

This family came down from Las Vegas for our session. I had done photographs of their neice a few months ago and so now it was time for this little lady. She was timid of my little black box at first, but once she warmed up, that smile was shinning.... is she not ridiculously cute? I think so.

I love shooting triplets, and thanks to Orange County Mom's of Multiples, I have been getting to know some of you, and looking forward to shooting more multiples, I love it. Whole different dynamic, and its truly a treat!

Well here is the Balk triplets all tiny and fresh and new... a beautiful family, I trully almost teared shooting the ones of the whole family, the love in that room was heavy duty thick and lets face it, Im weepy as it is...

They asked me if I would be willing to shoot the location, sure why not? But when the guy walked us on the field, and we were shooting in the dugout, I simply thought this was too cool for words....

I just wanted to post and let you all know I have tons of cool stuff to show you,I am not napping over here, but this site is driving me crazy and won't let me upload. Here is a teaser, we got triplet newborns, a chubba 6 monther, and an engagement at an ultra cool location (cool for your boys out there!).

I got the pleasure of getting to do a Day in the Life with the Wood Family. 3 totally ridiculously cute girls, a stunning home, and a momma who loves them to peices....

these sessions always feel so intimate, getting to peek on cuddle time, on play time, on melt down times, I love getting to do them they are treat for me.

Candace was certianly a momma who has so many awesome traits I hope to emulate when I get to be a momma. Thanks Cadace.. more pictures soon to come, but I knew you wanted to see something! Have a great vacation. : )

The beauty of these day in the life sessions, is that I get to witness all different moods, giggly to serious, to pouty, the camera show ceases and what I am left with is who they are. Its amazing to watch. These girls were the ultimate girls, from playing restaurant to baby dolls, to barbies, before I knew it I wanted to be in jelly shoes, and wearing a dress that spun....

This couple literally makes me smile. After being togethor for a LONG time.. they are tying the knot in early September, and you can tell they are just totally in love... Thanks Leahy's for referring them.

We hung out in Hollywood... at a new favorite location, took a bunch of fun shots... and then Nick & I ended up hanging out with there young adult group for a volleyball tournament, had so much fun..... One of the best parts of my job, is hanging out with FUN people!

But here they are ... in love. Can't wait to shoot your wedding, 4 more weeks to go..
